What is TENS?
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a safe way to help you cope with labour.
TENS cleverly interrupts and overrides contraction messages before they can be experienced as pain.
There are no side effects for you or your baby. It is a small, hand held machine you can control yourself which has attachments that you place on your back.
You can use TENS throughout your labour and birth, at home and in hospital.
You feel a tingling sensation on your back which you can increase as your labour progresses. You can help manage contractions with the press of a button.
You can stay mobile and use with other strategies.
How does TENS work?
TENS gives you power to ride the waves of contractions.
-
It helps your body to produce & release natural pain-killing hormones
-

-
It empowers you to cope with labour more effectively and it's easy to use!
